A little insight about our story and the properties of bamboo
The idea for our 'Bam • bu Bicycles' project started in China in 2018.
In Chinese culture, bamboo is a symbol of oriental beauty. It represents the character of moral integrity, modesty, and loyalty. It is also an example of elegance. The Chinese love bamboo and the bamboo culture has been rooted in their minds for a long time. When we first discovered bamboo bicycles, we were amazed, not only for their unique appearance and beautiful design, lightweight and comfort to ride but also because we could build bicycles towards a more sustainable development.

Bamboo contributes to a large zero reduction in carbon footprint by being easy to grow, fast-growing, absorbing large amounts of carbon dioxide and releasing a lot of oxygen. It is nicknamed "green steel", which roughly translated means that is an environmentally friendly and a strong material because it has very high strength properties, which are increasingly being used in various industries. It is extremely light which makes it an exceptional material for the construction of bamboo-framed bicycles, practically equaling carbon bicycles, where their manufacture produces huge waste of materials. It is lighter than steel and some aluminium frames, and can be sturdier than carbon bikes that require constant care and are relatively fragile compare to bamboo.

Having Anadia and the district of Aveiro, cycling in their heart, we want to bring this innovative project and build great bamboo bicycles that inspire and above all promote a unique experience for their users.
We want to make a difference for the community and inspire epic cycling experiences throughout Bairrada and Portugal, perhaps all over the world!

The role of bamboo towards a green economy has never been more important and we intend with this project to give a push to the efforts in the development of bamboo in Portugal.
